Concussion Physiotherapy

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with every day occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy refers to rehabilitation of those muscles which are involved in bowel/bladder function, sexual function and stabilization of the pelvic region in men and women. A Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist is specialized in the assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles. This includes evaluating bladder and bowel habits and reeducation as needed. This specialization is becoming more established in the literature as a first-line of defense against incontinence and pelvic pain. Pelvic health can be impacted by pregnancy, abdominal/pelvic surgeries, traumatic injuries, muscle strain, and postural/hip/low back issues.


Vestibular Physiotherapy

Vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) is an exercise-based treatment program designed to promote vestibular adaptation and substitution. The goals of VRT are 1) to enhance gaze stability, 2) to enhance postural stability, 3) to improve vertigo, and 4) to improve activities of daily living.

Abhijot Cheema earned a Bachelors’s of Physiotherapy degree in 2004 from H.N.B Garhwal University, India and where she gained experience as a physical therapist in a variety of settings. She has over 11 years of clinical experience working with a wide spectrum of clients, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. She has completed research work on muscles flexibility and Vertigo cause and treatments at H.N.B Garhwal University and Christian Medical College and Hospital in 2005. She has delivered physical therapy services across home health care and inpatient/outpatient health facilities.

Abhijot is a Certified Mulligan practitioner and is experienced in treating patients with chronic neck and back pain, chronic headaches, spinal disorders, and athletic injuries. She has continued expanding her knowledge and professional development by completing certification in Neurodevelopmental Techniques with pediatric patients. She has vast experience in treating Musculoskeletal pains, orthopedic, sports injuries, work-related injuries, and pre-and post-operative surgical conditions.

Abhijot has worked in private clinics for many years as well as in hospital settings. She strongly believes in empowering her patients through education and Individualized treatment plans. Abhijot is Fluent in English Punjabi and Hindi, to better serve patients requiring a physical therapist who speak these languages.

Her Interests include general fitness, and outdoor activities with friends and family.

Aryka graduated from Makami’s Massage Therapy program in 2020. Her journey into Massage Therapy stems from a deep-seated passion for helping others. She finds the intricacies of the human body fascinating and continually explores different modalities to gain diverse perspectives on improving quality of life. Aryka particularly enjoys working with clients who have experienced motor vehicle accidents, suffer from headaches/migraines, or live with acute and chronic pain.

She is dedicated to creating client-centered treatment plans that promote pain relief and enhance overall well-being, aiming for a pain-free lifestyle and improved body functionality.

Outside of her practice, Aryka enjoys exploring various cuisines, taking leisurely walks in the woods, and indulging in a good book.

She is trained in Thai, Swedish relaxation massage, deep tissue theraputic massage, myofascial release massage, prenatal massage, hot and Jade stones massage, cupping massage, sport massage, neuromuscular massage and orthopedic massage. Sarah’s massage therapy approach is client focused, based on each client’s expectations and individual needs. Neha Mehta is a Senior Physiotherapist who graduated in 2008 and is an active member of Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She holds a postgraduate qualification in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from University of Melbourne, (Australia) as well as certifications in:

American Society of Hand Therapists:Virtual Hand Therapy Course Acupuncture level 1 Dry Needling Vestibular rehabilitation, TMJ & Craniofacial Pain assessment and treatment of related conditions Functional K-taping She has many years of experience working across all age groups.

Neha is an examiner for the Clinical Component of Canadian Physiotherapy Competency Examination and authorized to use needles and perform spinal manipulation. She has maintained a determination to get to the cause of a patient’s problem. She is a highly proficient manual therapist with over 10 years of experience.

Neha is dedicated to the profession and her patients, continually expanding her knowledge with new developments in research. She is also regularly refining her skills in manual therapy as new courses and methods of treatment come available. Outside of work, Neha likes playing table tennis, pool and enjoys spending time with her family.
